Me Next… MAKEUP !!!…
So, as much as my blog tends to lack much in the way of animals and stuff, this is more to do with me mostly taking the simpler more inanimate options…. and leaving the chasing stuff through fields and forests to the more committed… Plus I find that trying to photograph bears with my 10mm poses one or two minor risks… Not that we have too many wild bears in the UK… I think my cat scares most of them away… Well it’s either my cat or my rotting banana-skin hat (It’s a classic bear deterrent dontchaknow… and works a treat)… ;)
I DO however love taking pictures of Swans, as we have quite the abundance of them here, and almost anywhere where there’s fresh water, then there’s bound to be a small bucket or two full of swans….
PLUS… You don’t have to do ANY chasing, as they’re so vain, that whenever you arrive with a camera then they’re sure to come pose…. Either that or they’re just plain greedy, and assume my camera bag is full of pickle sandwiches (yeah they like pickles… and marmite)… :)
Maybe I should do a Swan Series… Wodyafink ???
Oh, and as a warning… I have a flower shot… of JUST a flower… that may find its way on here at some point in the future… You have been warned… :)

I hear that randomly making wolf calls scares off bears too. You should try it, maybe in the supermarket. You can never be too safe ;) hehe… The swan series is a go! Do it! You’ve always had a way with swans, and THIS is no exception. Absolutely gorgeous Funky. I can see this as a print, or a lovely greeting card. You should print it.

You’ve been reading my book on bear evasion haven’t you… It all works though and I can personally guarantee it.. I’ve NEVER seen a wild bear anywhere around here… Come to think of it I’m pretty sure my techniques work on Lions and Elephants too… Maybe I should publish them… What d’ya reckon…. ;)

Well they MUST work if you’ve seen no bears or other large wildlife. I’m thinking that next week, when I go to the mountains, I should try it. I was also thinking of wearing my good luck steak around my neck. Whadyathink?

Defo try it… Also randomly humming the theme to Star Wars wards off all of those man eating raccoons… You have to do it in a high pitch hum though or it doesn’t work… I’m saying no more though or their will be nothing to put in my book… ;)
Not sure the steak is such a good idea though… You might look a bit silly…. :)

Wow Brian, these turned out so wonderful. I like the composition the way the grass surrounds them and their pose as well. It’s a perfect image plus I like the black and white treatment too.

It almost didn’t work out at all, as I woefully overexposed it… Thanks to RAW though I was able to pull all the required details back… Thanks Consuelo… :)

This is lovely – the texture of the water looks almost ‘oily’. (I know there’s a way more poetic way of saying that but I’m afraid ‘oily’ is the only word that comes to mind right now).
BTW you might need your rotting banana-skin hat after all if there are cygnets around. I’ve heard that swans can break a man’s arm when protecting their young … why they choose the arm, as opposed to the leg or a quick peck in the eye, I don’t know. I’m only repeating what I’ve heard.

Oily will do me… lol… It’s actually my own special processing formula, affectionately known as “slug’d”…. It ultimately boosts the textures and contrast of pictures… And Lol… Yeah I’ve heard that rumour too… Given their height it’s not the legs or eyes I’m normally worried about… ;)

What lovely “posers” you have! After your pictures, I’m so tempted to go out and make my attempt at these lovely subjects and find out whether the local swans here (about 120 miles west of Tracy) are hams or photo-shy!
And I think I could have used your raccoon scaring techniques in my garden some years ago! ;-)

Well you’ve definitely got to give it a go… I reckon Tracy’s swans are just jealous that her squirrels and garden birds get all the attention… lol… ;)
