The camera never lies… Or does it !?!?…

Let There Be Light…

So there I was, sitting on the cold stone cobbles, or should I say virtually laying on said cobbles… in what I thought was a pretty deserted part of the castle, trying to re-capture a shot I’d taken many years before with an old old camera… getting dripped on from the mouldy walls and roof… when a couple appeared (and stopped) in the doorway to the right…

So being considerate I stopped setting up the shot, and said “please, carry on, I’m just setting up”… but they said “Oh no, this looks like a very nice shot, so I’m going to take the same picture after you”…  lol… Well I didn’t mind too much, as I didn’t know them at all, and it’s highly unlikely their shot would ever appear in the same place as mine… but what I DID mind, was that they just STOOD THERE… Right in the middle of my shot… waiting for me to finish !!!!…. with their cameras in hand…

Ummmm…. S’cuse Me !!!…. lol….

So I had to again stop what I was doing, and actually ask them to step back out of the way… lol… And them photographers an all… sheeeesh… There was me being highly considerate of others, and stopping my set up to allow them to pass, yet they declined and appeared entirely surprised when I politely asked them to step back in to the doorway instead, so I could take my shot…

Photographers !!!… So Rude !!!… LOL…

For anyone who’s interested in a bit of history, you can read plenty over on WIKI… The castle is medieval, founded way back in the 12th century, and is the largest castle in England… and when I say large… Well it’s HUGE.. I managed to find this aerial shot which will give you an indication to the extent of the place… It’s the complete triangular section right up to road you see bordering the docks…

  1. Hilarious! I imagine they were simply oblivious to the idea that you were indeed, taking a shot of the ENTIRE room, INCLUDING said doorway!

Interesting texture along with the light pouring in. There is NO WAY they got the same shot… ;-)

    • Thanks Tracy, and I was soooo tempted to make sure they didn’t get the same shot, by standing in front of the window… lol…

  2. I agree with the above comment that there is no way they were able to get the same shot. Eerie how this goes really well with your dragon drawings. I think I’d want a fortress like this if a dragon was flying around! :)

    • Oh poo !!… Now why didn’t I think of that… as I actually have another picture that would have gone even more perfectly with my dragon… Ah well… Tanks so much Leslie.. :)

LOL, yes I think they were seeing a different shot if they were stoopid enough to be actually hanging around within view. Tsk tsk…*people* eh?!

The texture in this is great and I love the light flooding in. Very atmospheric.

    • Thanks Jayne… lol.. Yeah they seemed quite surprised when I said that my shot included the doorway as well.. I did love that light too…

  5. WHAT??? You didn’t want any random strangers in your shot??? (I SO know how you feel!)

Not only is the light amazing, but so are the colors. Loev the greys and browns.

    • Haha… Nah, they weren’t attractive enough to be included.. lol.. Thanks so much Michaela.. :)

  6. Yeah, I like your idea about standing in the window – you could’ve done a “walk like an Egyptian” pose and really confounded their shot.
A dragon would be the perfect addition to this eerie shot! I bet you have the skills to make it happen.

    • Hmmm.. Now there’s another thought.. You’ve given me an idea on the dragon front.. lol.. And LMAO at the pose, as that WOULD have been funny, especially if I’d just danced across from one doorway to the other… ;)

What is wrong with people sometimes?! Sheesh, seriously. lol. So funny that they just stood there, in your shot, waiting. lol. Good thing you stood in front of the window after! hahaha, soooo bad. Actually, that might make for a cool shot if you wore something awesome, like a suit of armor. You DO have a suit of armor don’t you?

I do love this shot. Very dramatic, and you added that touch of selective color that really makes this stand out!

    • Well… I don’t have a suit of armour… but I do have a spiderman outfit (although it may be a bit tight these days)… lol… Would that be good enough… ;)

      Thanks A… :)
