It’s Been A While
So, It’s Been A While… (love this song btw, go give it a listen if it’s not familiar to you)… Anyway, as I was saying, it’s been a while since I put anything on here for various reasons… It’s also been a while since anyone tendered any care and attention on this particular building, which is such a shame as it’s a great building… but getting VERY dangerous…
So a brief catch up with me… Started a new job end of Sept.. reverting back to a previous career of mine, and I have to say it’s going great… I’ve also had a number of urbex outings too recently, one of which this shot comes from, so apologies to those of you who prefer my more tranquil landscape’y type posts (and flowers !!), but I do find a certain beauty in these places too… Plus it’s one heck of a challenge to find and capture something appealing, and also quite the challenge to get out without having fallen through the floor… Oh, and getting in can be quite interesting too sometimes.. ;)

It was VERY dangerous in places Avital… Much more so than on previous visits… The upper floors were particularly lacking in the required level of support, and there was evidence-a-plenty where people had partially fallen through… Thanks Avital..

The photo is great, I love the tones. How close is that to the sooc image?

It has indeed… lol… Thanks Michaela… As for the original, ooooh I dunno… Does an artist normally show his initial sketchings ??… lol… Oh ok then, if you insist… You have to remember though that this image is an HDR, which will always add a certain amount of unseen detail to the final image, and I have to confess to also “tweaking” this particular shot further in photoshop, as I was after creating a certain finish… So here’s the SOOC Image, just for you… :)

The sooc looks pretty good, but I love how you tweaked it to end up with the final image.
It’s amazing how different an image can look from the original. Makes me want to keep the boring ones until I can see how/if I can improve them.

It’s a good plan, as I quite often go back tom images previously dismissed… once I’ve realised there’s something extra I can to do make them work… :)

Looks like a great bit of exploration there B. I like these images as well (your urbex). Just love the idea of seeing something hidden from view. Been chased out of any locations lately?! LOL ;)

I love that song too. Did you know that the band members of Staind are from my neck of the woods (western Massachusetts)?
I checked out the SOOC too – quite remarkable what you can do with processing when you know what you are doing, as you obviously do. I think we need a mini-slug falling through a floor shot now that you’ve put the idea in our heads, LOL.

This is gorgeous. The textures that you squeeze out of every photo are simply amazing. When I look at it large, it’s like I could step in and feel it.

It’s a great shot, I love your urbex stuff. I don’t think I’d have the courage to go in there myself – I prefer buildings where I don’t think the floor is going to collapse on me! Good luck with the new job.

I’m a total scardy cat when it’s comes to this urbexy stuff. I always love your urbex shots though, so keep scouting and finding these great places. But, man, beware of that floor! Eeeeeek…. Thank you for the song to go with the photo. Works well with that and be careful when you go to grab us fantastic visions like this. The colors work well, here, and I can imagine the ghosts clinging to the surroundings.

This kind of place fascinates me, partly because the discoveries that we can do there are treasures for photographers like us and, secondly, I can’t understand why these areas are abandoned like that. It’s a shame and a mystery that nobody can explain…
I really like how your picture turn out, Brian. She has a feeling of mystery and sadness. And above all, it gives us the taste of exploring abandoned houses. ;)

Congrats on the new job and glad to hear it is going well! Now that you’ve settled in, I’m sure things are getting better and better every day.
Your shots of this place are really starting to show the decay. Very sad to watch. I so wish someone could ‘save’ this structure and return it to its previous glory.

Thanks Tracy, let’s hope things do get even better… even if they are also getting busier.. lol.. but I don’t mind busy all the time I’m achieving something… As for this place, well it’s one of many we’ve found recently, but it has deteriorated considerably from the first time we were there, which wasn’t that long ago… I hear it’s a listed building, which means it can’t be demolished, but let’s hope something is done before it falls down of its own accord..

Lovely to see both the original and the ‘topped-and-tailed’ shot. I love seeing these buildings, in a state of faded glory. I remember looking around a couple of building projects with my entrepeneur/developer father when I was teensy weensy and there was a tinge of excitement at what once was and thoughts of people long gone. Sadly, such projects are now as rare as hens teeth here. :/
I’m so pleased to hear about the new job. I don’t know, I just kind of got the impression that the last job wasn’t filling you with the joys of spring (I’m either freakishly empathic or horribly wrong). Hopefully this will fit the bill just fine.

This job is (currently) definitely more rewarding than the last, and I have no regrets at quitting and switching careers again… and it’s real close to home which is always a bonus… Thanks Jayne… Glad you like the shot, and it is such a shame you no longer have the opportunity to explore such places as an adult, as the excitement is most definitely still there..

So you visited our bedroom and took a sneaky snap :-) I reckon that room must have been very dark even with the light coming through the window. You captured it so well. I hope your previous job was a as photographer- would be such a waste of talent. Watch the floorboards as you leave please.
