A Happy Accident

High Five.. Anyone !?!?… :)

Well ok, maybe (fortunately) not entirely an accident… but certainly unplanned… or at least not entirely planned… :)

SO… Voting from the previous “fluffy” post was almost unanimous in favour of something decidedly less fluffy / altogether more macabre… Well don’t say you weren’t given the choice… ;)

You’ll be glad to know though, that no harm befell anyone or anything during the making of this shot… that is unless you include the demon garden hose… There’s a lesson to be learned there, and that is when taking photographs in the garden, never assume the garden hose is fully conversant with rule 7.14, which is “Active garden hoses, must at all times during their duties of water dispensing, ensure they always look away from the camera”

This shot is actually a whole lot more innocent than it may first appear, and my original idea was entirely different to the slant my post-processing took… I originally intended to take a shot with just plain old water running down my hand and off my fingertips, and I was then going to spin it through 180°, turn it black and white… and hope it looked kinda unique, with the water flowing upwards… Well, it didn’t… lol…

Hence after my initial disappointment, it then took on a more disturbing twist… Trust me though, this WAS that shot with plain old boring garden hose water, which has then been entirely photoshopped to look like… well.. not like water… ;)

So there ya go… from fluffy critters, to golden sunsets, to flowers, to freaky vegetables, to abandoned and spooky buildings, to the licking cows… and now something altogether less wholesome… :)

How Ketchup is REALLY Made

Billy was regretting last nights curry, and getting quite desperate at the Ketchup factory, waiting for Doug to finish his shift on the ummmm… “production line !!”…

Trouble at the Salon

Beryl was horrified to see that Sandra had maybe slightly overdone her first session at the new Tanning Salon in town…

‘Ere Be Dragons…

About a month or so back I had an overwhelming inclination to draw a dragon… which I’ve never drawn before, even though I’ve had an interest in all things fantasy for many years… so I purchased a book from an art shop specifically on the subject… just to get some inspiration… and I started the rough pencil sketch you see below…

However, due to one thing or another I never really got hooked by it, and very quickly lost the drive to finish it… That was until last weekend when Michaela (The Daily Click) posted some of her daughters very impressive dragon sketches

Well thanks to inspiration from Michaela’s daughter, I have now completed my first dragon sketch…

This is another first in a number of ways for me… The first Dragon, and my first sketch finished with Artline Graphic Pens, and also the first sketch I’ve also gone on to then “colour in” with artists colouring pencils…

Originally I intended it to just be a shaded graphite pencil sketch, but then changed my mind and decided to use graphic pens instead… and lastly, more as a test, I copied it on to standard paper, and coloured that in…

So what’s your preference ???… Coloured or Graphic Pen ???… Here’s the initial sketch too for those who are interested in how it started off… :)

Winters Call

So this is another absolute first for me…. Pastels that is…. I’ve NEVER used pastels before, as I really didn’t think you could get any detail from them, that was until I saw a picture in a local exhibition that blew me away…. And ever since then I’ve been determined to try pastels myself… And here’s my first EVER effort… :)

Please have a look at my ARTWORK page too, for some more examples of my art… All of which (but one) are from the past few months, when I re-discovered my love of art… thanks to an inspirational friend…

Pensive In Pencil

Just a little bit of what I’ve been doing whilst not blogging…

This is a sketch of my youngest daughter, from this photo of mine taken last year… And there was me thinking the photo itself was tricky to capture, given my daughters utter disinterest in posing for the camera… But now I know photography is a whole lot easier than drawing… I spent quite some time on this one though, seriously tweaking it numerous times before this incarnation… I completely altered the shading, tweaked the nose, changed the hair completely, added her freckles.. and some more to boot… I think I’m pretty pleased now though, and I think this is the finished article…

I’ve also spent some time today trying my hand at watercolour painting… for the first time ever, as far as I can recall… and it didn’t go too badly.. mefinks… lol… Look out for that some time soon…

Btw… This isn’t necessarily me back.. but for today at least I’m gonna have a mooch around to see what I’ve missed… Consider it a minor relapse… ;)

OH… And thank you all so much for your well wishes on my previous post… They were ALL very much appreciated… :)
