Just occasionally, it is actually worth getting up early in the morning…

iMazing

So yesterday I managed to blow the dust off, and get out with my camera for the first time this year… and very quickly realise the reason why I HAVEN’T  been out with my camera this year… It was COLD !!..

Took this one with my real camera, but also decided to test the capabilities of my iPhone too while my blood was slowly crystallizing… and I have to confess, for a camera phone it’s pretty iMazing to say the least… I’ve been impressed with it already on a number of occasions, but last nights picture almost made me put my real camera away !!.. Only almost though, as it will never compete with a Canon obviously.. :)

If you’re on Instagram, then you can find it / me by searching for funkyslug… Or here’s a link to it for those who aren’t on Instagram… http://instagr.am/p/j-hff/

….

Why is it that sometimes coming up with a title for a post is far more difficult and time-consuming than actually taking the picture and editing it is ???… Came up completely empty on this one… but hopefully the shot speaks for itself…

Celestial Sunset

Just another quick sunset from the frantic 10 minutes spent looking for a shot before the colour disappeared… It was a nightmare though waiting for the clouds to clear the moon before the light went… I LOVE Sunsets… lol…

Underneath The Arches

Nothing real interesting to add to this post I’m afraid, apart from the fact we were hoping to get a stunning sunset with this bridge being the main focal point… The sunset however didn’t materialise, so this was shot toward the only remaining semi interesting portion of the sky… It was quite a beautiful and peaceful park though, which kinda always amazes me… that there are still these large open areas so close to the centre of London…

Apologies too for being a bit on the absent side this past weekend though, as I’ve been feeling a bit rough… Feeling better now though… Kinda… lol… :)

Cosmic Crossings

I don’t get anywhere near enough opportunity to do these, but every once in a while the conditions seem to be too good to resist… No wind (not me), no clouds, no crazy star ruining atmosphere, not “much” light pollution and bright stars…. Well tonight was one such night when I had to take a shot I’d been after for a while…. and using the tried and trusted layering technique … I blended this from 18 x 30sec exposures… Well it didn’t come out quite how I envisioned it, but it will have to do for now…

I’m not entirely sure though why some stars appear white, and some vivid blue, when they all look pretty white to the naked eye…. Anyone know the reason ???… lol…

Twilights Traverse

Sometimes this little Island can be a beautiful place…. Mostly though it’s grim and cold and miserable and windy and flat and barren and un-appealing and cold (did I mention cold already.. lol) Oh and wet and damp and full of sheep and rabbits and altogether not very nice…. But sometimes… Just occasionally… Every once in a while… a glimmer of beauty pokes its head above the parapet…. and we get a gem…. just for a fleeting moment…

Yeah OK, maybe it’s not “quite” that bad… lol… But it sure does seem like it during this particular winter, where we seem to be having far to much of the mushy drab grey wet stuff… and no I don’t mean soggy sheep either… lol… Speaking of which “Why don’t sheep shrink in the rain ??”…. Just a thought !!…. ;)

Roll on spring is what I say…

But anyways, here’s some of that occasional beauty, but despite appearances, this very much had to be a “quick” shot, as it was circa brass monkeys 0°C, with a windchill equivalent to a polar bears tiny chilly frozen cold bits… Hopefully my own particular frozen extremities were worth the effort…
